2013 ANIMAL ACUPRESSURE SCHEDULE OF CLASSES

For the 2013 academic year, the Academy will offer a limited number of classes. The four classes listed below constitute the core foundational classes in animal acupressure. Students may take one or more classes as desired with no prerequisites. A certificate of completion is provided for each class. Students may also work toward completion of a 60-Hour Animal Acupressure Certification Program by taking all four classes and completing a four-hour (no cost) independent project documenting animal acupressure sessions. Students receive a 60-hour certificate of completion for the program. Click the "Programs" menu option, above, to see the full description of this program.

The 2013 Academy classes will be hosted by BrightHaven Animal Sanctuary & Healing Arts Center, Santa Rosa, California. The classes will be taught by the Academy's certified instructor Erika Simonton. See her biographical statement below the class schedule.

Advanced Acupressure Distance Learning Program

While on sabbatical from the classroom in 2013, Tom will be teaching a 50-Hour Advanced Animal Acupressure Distance Learning Certification Program for a limited number of students who have completed some prior training in acupressure. The program will not be conducted in group fashion, but as a one-on-one independent study between the individual student and the instructor. This individualized program of study and clinical practice will be designed jointly by Tom and each student enrolled in the program. Click the "Programs" menu option, above, to see the full description of this program.

About Erika Simonton

Erika Simonton has loved animals all of her life. She comes by this naturally as the daughter of two animal-loving parents. She began working with animals as young as elementary school in her home state of New Mexico where she volunteered as a helper at her local veterinarian's office. She continued her volunteer work throughout school and during her time in Alaska at local animal shelters. Erika has her B. S. in Physical Education and Athletic Training. She followed a mostly traditional career path in allopathic medicine for several years. She worked in emergency rooms, chiropractic, and urgent care clinics. She has taught training classes in all of these positions as trainer or supervisor.

With the end of the line for allopathic treatment imminent for two dear cat friends, Tuffi and Dude, Erika had the wonderful fortune of meeting Dr. Tom Wilson. The kitties found a new lease on life and Erika found a new calling. She has been gratefully guided by the amazing teachings of Tom and the many animal teachers she has encountered along the way. She is certified in Jin Shin Jyutsu, Tuil Na, Reiki, Qigong, Acupressure, and CranioSacral. She is a graduate of the Animal Acupressure Training Academy in Nevada City, California. She has also received training from Gail and Richard Pope of BrightHaven and Dr. Tom Wilson on natural diet, nutrition, holistic/homeopathic animal care, hospice and the natural dying process for animals. Erika shares her life with her husband and two cats.
